43 kitchen sink backsplash guard

The caulked area where my stick-on tile meets my (likely) quartz countertop was cracking when we moved in a year ago, and I placed DAP Kwik Seal Plus (siliconized caulk) there after removing the old stuff. It quickly got gross and moldy and separated from the quartz, so I just tried placing insta trim there. Because the space is so small and requires the insta trim to touch the grout on the tiles, the insta trim is not sticking to the wall. Here are pictures in link below of the caulk I used, ... I'm worried water is penetrating and may eventually result in molding issues wherever the water is getting collected. How do I fix it? Should I just get a caulking tube and caulk that area? Kitchen sink backsplash guard

I was doing a small update to my 1988 galley kitchen and removed the old cabinets and backsplash tiles on one side. I was left with three, roughly 2x2 sections of old cement-like tile adhesive stuck to the wall and inside the window (I have a large, pass-through window behind my sink). Water and scraping does absolutely nothing. It’s like cement. It’s not smooth at all, but the ridges aren’t crazy deep (1/16” ridges, maybe). I don’t want to sand/grind down.
